Makes sense considering Kojima excels in that department and it was one of the talking points for trolls regarding Horizon. GG now also have Kojima working on their engine and recently said their engine has made a lot of improvements especially in the cutscenes area. It's especially impressive because these were the first open world games by those two devs, can't wait to see what they accomplish next time around. In terms of its size, the map is approximately five miles, making it a little larger than Zero Dawn, and it has plenty more to discover, with Pickering praising the “variation in the local fauna and new creatures, such as giant snapping turtles and elephants”. Our gaming writer Jasper Pickering did share a tip though – if you climb a “tallneck” (a large robot dinosaur), you are able to scan the local area to reveal areas of interest. When you first begin, areas of the map are covered by fog, but as you progress, more regions are revealed. There are four distinct areas in the map, which is based on a vision of the post-apocalyptic United States of America. The game’s director, Mathijs de Jonge, insists that the main quest for the developers wasn’t to increase the size of the map but rather to increase the density and the amount of content available to players, as per The Independent. The map has received a healthy upgrade from Zero Dawn, which released on the PS4.
